I wasn’t going to post this as I didn’t have pictures, but after seeing similar wall of text style reports, I’m gonna go ahead and do it. Also, I have posted without the review of any editors, so all typo’s, bad grammars, and whatever else is on me.
LVO 2016 has come and gone and it was a great time. Since some have asked for reports I figured I’d best write mine down before I forget. There was a 2 round 2500pt tournament Friday, and a 3 round 1500pt tournament Saturday. I have painted a lot of units in the past month gearing up for the 2500pt games. They have been my only 2 games of that size to date, but were tons of fun. You can find the missions here, https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0159/4298/files/New_Scenarios.pdf?10039154495079923299

First I played Cameron in Capture and Control. We both held our home Critical Location the whole game, mine with my Alexander and his with his Hades. Our central home objectives were the last to get off, they must of been well hidden! On my left I sent a Lifthawk full of infantry to find and extract the objective in the building at the center line. I also sent my Barrel Bombers full steam ahead. This was folly as behind the buildings I forgot about the 4 Helios, d’oh! Cameron used Valkyries and Sirens, Sirens getting it off the board quickly. After I found mine I pulled back to hopefully consolidate it with my central home objective, whenever they felt like finding it. With the Vacancy, his Valks jumped forward, but I had my other squad of Berserkers loaded in the area and they followed the ladies in and killed them.
On my right, my Veterans were tasked with finding the home objective and possibly the center line building. Supporting them were Gun and Fire Wagons. The Hades did a good job of pinning them down, which was supported by Phobos and Menchits. As Cameron sent infantry forward in Tritons to reach this building, my Hellhogs would appear on the flanks and shoot them down, dropping the infantry just outside the building, preventing them from extracting the objective. My Veterans found their and rode their bus off while the others loaded up for a push on the center building which was under manned as the surviving Immortals and Sirens were backed up by Valks from elsewhere.
In the Center, my Cyclones and 2nd Alexander lurked backed by a pair of Scout ATVs. Cameron made a play with Apollo’s which I killed and countered by dropping the Alexander on the point. This was turn 4 and in hindsight was quite daft. Cameron had his Zeus/Odin, Phobos, and Medusa lurking on his side. This made short work of the Alexander and lost me that Critical Location with no hope of reclaiming it, as I did not have sturdy enough ground units.
Second game was against Martin, another familiar face from last LVO. He had brought his Shaltari again, and we played Domination. It was quite a different game playing corners on a 6′ x 4′!
We each held our Critical Location buildings all game. I never attempted to get to his, but he sent all his spirits flying down the table edge towards mine turn 1! Thankfully 1 Hellhog showed up turn one and dropped one. The next turn he put all his Braves, 2 squads, into the building. My Fire Wagons doused them, doing a single DP to each squad before I put my 4 Fighter squads and 2 Berserker squads in. In the CQB that followed I had 100 attacks, and the Braves were dispatched with only half attacks rolled for each squad. He backed off with his surviving Spirit, having made his passive against the Hellhog’s 2nd missile.
Further down the field, a line was forming along the central Focal Points. His force had 6 Tomahawks, 6 Kukri, 2 Jaguar, 2 Caiman, 1 Coyote, and 1 Firedrake (to my recolletion). Neither of us wanted to move advance as it would give the other the advantage, so it was a huge stand still for the most part. Both Hellhogs came on behind him and attempted an assassination of the Coyote, but his shield were completely up. One Hellhog didn’t make it back, but both had expended all their Chaingun ammo, killing a Caiman. The surviving ‘hog made it off w/ his last missile. This surprise attack had a squad of Kukri turn around which helped my Cyclones and Bombers advance into advantageous positions to deter the Shaltari advance.
His Jaguars were protecting his Critical Location building as some Freeriders had zipped up the side. They worked with some Cyclones there to barrage the Jaguars before charging in the final turn to make sure the LZ was hot for those last turn shenanigans.
The remaining Spirits (he got one back with a card) had snuck (American English for “sneaked”) around behind me as I pulled most the infantry out to go for the central focal points. Small arms and the last hellhog missile saw they did not deliver any infantry to steal my backfield focal point. The game ended with me owning the central focal points. He was in a tough position the whole game as I squared up with him and playing lengthwise there wasn’t as much room for him to maneuver.
That seems like a sufficiently large wall of text for you now. 2500pts is a lot of fun and I hope to make more time for it in the future, though it does take time; each game round was 4 hours and was appreciated! Next post will be about Saturday and the 1500pt games.
Thx for the day 1 report. Use your phone to take pics Sir. Can’t wait to here about day 2 1500pt games.

Nice write up. I forgot to take pictures, too, so I’ll be putting up a wall o’ text on my blog as well. Will be interesting to see your perspective on our game… 😉

Great post! I took lots of pics of everything except DzC. I think I have only 4 good DzC photos… one of you, Chris, and Ian, and Solomon, and Simon, I think. Andrew is in one of them, too. As is J.D. I think. I had two cameras on me and totally forgot to shoot.

Your back!! After a major winter break!
I would seriously love to go to the LVO.
2500 point games are crazy too! Sounds like you had a blast. Will there be more from Rolling Hot this year?

Maybe? I hope to periodically post. I have to do a post now on the Saturday 1500pt games. After that I am looking at doing a follow up on the evolution of my feral list and thoughts on units and the future of the list. Then we’ll see where things are at. I’d like to do a post on Scout ATVs and Valkyries, but only if they are still under scrutiny at that time.
… or maybe i’ll just troll the forums

Just posting again so that I can get notified of future comments.
But it would be great if some of you guys could make it to the LVO next year, Mike! Simon says the airfare to Vegas from the UK is really cheap, which makes sense (subsidized by the casinos), so maybe that’s how we can finally get a game vs each other!
